δοκίμασε
The verb δοκιμάζω is different to προσπαθώ in that προσπαθώmeans ‘to try, to strive’ whereas δοκιμάζω means ‘to try [something] out’. Their semantics sometimes merge though, into the meaning of ‘to attempt’, as both verbs can be used this way.
κυλιέται / κυλάει
The active voice of the verb is κυλάω, the passive voice is κυλιέμαι and the two occurrences in the song show that its meaning can vary. Among others, active voice meanings include ‘to roll’ or ‘to flow’, whereas passive voice ones also feature ‘to wallow’. Etymologically the word is related to κύλινδρος ‘cylinder’, which got its name because it was used to roll large objects on land.
πιάνει
The verb [πιάνω– πιάσω] meaning ‘to grasp’, ‘to get a hold of’, to seize’, ‘to catch’ is also used for emotions or certain afflictions, for example:
Με πιάνει άγχος όταν την βλέπω. – I get anxious when I see her.
Τον έπιασε πανικός. – He panicked. [lit: ‘Panic seized him.’]
Την έπιασε κρύωμα. – She caught a flu. [ lit: ‘A cold caught her.’]
ανατριχίλα
The word comes from ανατριχιάζω, which describes the state of one’s hairs standing, due to fear or other intense and electrifying emotion. An individual hair in Greek is called τρίχα[feminine], whereas the hair on one’s head is called μαλλιά [neuter plural].
φθινοπωριάζει
The verb means that autumn is coming, and often refers to the weather gradually changing as summer is coming to an end. All seasons have such a verb, apart from spring. The other two verbs are καλοκαιριάζει and χειμωνιάζει.
μούσκεμα
Although originally a noun, (το) μούσκεμα ‘[the act of] soaking’ is mainly used as an adverb, with either είμαι or γίνομαι, describing a situation of being or getting soaking wet.
